A walk-off groundout led Gaston Christian past Providence Day 2-1. The game was tied at one with GCS batting in the bottom of the eighth when Wright's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Gaston Christian.

The pitching was strong for GCS. Mia Holmes took the win for GCS pitching eight innings, allowing one run for four hits and striking out 13.

GCS got things moving in the first inning. Mackenzie Hill drove in one when she singled.

Gaston Christian racked up seven hits on the day. Emma Ghorley and Anna Crenshaw all managed multiple hits. Ghorley went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead GCS in hits. Gaston Christian was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mackenzie Hill had the most chances in the field with 15.


Gaston Christian will travel to Forsyth Country Day to take on Wake Christian Academy on Friday, May 18th at 12pm.
